    Location: Ft. Lauderdale, FL
    FULL TIME POSITION

    Provides and coordinates direct nursing services and procedures to patients. Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient quality of life through competent medical intervention. Ensures all documentation is in compliance with professional and legal standards.

    Primary Tasks:

    1. Performs complete patient evaluation and assessment.
    2. Records and reports symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in patient’s conditions.
    3. Accurate assimilation, interpretation and reporting of changing patient data
    4. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and/or family in accordance with established protocols.
    5. Reviews charts of patients on a daily basis to ensure all necessary documentation is present, current, and complete to facilitate physician visit.
    6. Assists with data collection as requested
    7. Documents any risk assessment activities.
    8. Triages patient phone calls and walk-ins, and prioritizes emergencies for medical referral.
    9. Demonstrates courtesy, compassion, and respect in all interpersonal and intraprofessional relationships with CAN clients, staff, and visitors.
    10. Adheres to ethical and legal standards of professional practice.
    11. Maintains professional manner in all aspects of job tasks
    12. Process all referrals as quickly as possible
    13. Reevaluate and follow-up on patients treatment and health status
    14. Counsel and educate individuals on health related and lifestyle issues
    15. To evaluate the efficacy of education and counseling approaches and strategies
    16. Delegates activities to support staff within the scope of practice
    17. Documents all patient care in an accurate, timely, legible manner in compliance with Board of Nursing Protocol.
    18. Participates in clinic-related research activities and is aware of relevant research protocols under direction of physician investigator

    Secondary Tasks:

    1. Files physician dictations, lab reports, referrals, and flow sheets daily.
    2. Randomly audits charts from a quality improvement perspective, documents findings, and   makes recommendations for continuous improvement
    3. Copies and forwards any/all medical information as requested by physician
    4. Continues ongoing personal professional training and education to advance skills/knowledge of HIV and related disease processes, medications, and treatments.
    5. Provides assistance in all clinical areas, as needed, and supported by professional licensure and accepted, appropriate medical protocols.
    6. Utilize resources in a cost effective manner.
    7. Performs all other duties as assigned.
    8. Performs Venipuncture and Vaccinations

    Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required:

    1. Demonstrates knowledge of HIV documentation protocols.
    2. Demonstrates experience with OSHA mandates, documentation, and compliance.
    3. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, medications, and accepted treatment practices.
    4. Ability and willingness to make independent nursing decisions based on nursing assessment.
    5. Demonstrates ability to self motivate.
    6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
    7. Demonstrates ability to coordinate a multitude of tasks as required.
    8. Maintains ongoing, appropriate documentation of all activities as needed.
    9. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
    10. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
    11. Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures.
    12. Knowledge of community health services and agencies
    13. Ability to apply principals of health promotion and disease preventio
    14. Able to work with health professional in a team environment.

     Educational/Professional: Required Training:
    In addition to the following, all new employees are required to attend New Employee Orientation:
    Supervisor’s Safety Training * Basic Annual Safety Training * Bloodborne Pathogen Annual Training * Hazard Communication (Area-Specific) Training * Infectious Waste Training * Tuberculosis Training,   HIV 500 and 501

     Physical Requirements:

    Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients manual and finger dexterity and eye- hand coordination.  Requires visual and auditory acuity, frequent standing and walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds unassisted.

    Education/Professional:

    1. LPN/RN graduate of an accredited school of nursing currently licensed to practice in the State of Florida
    2. Baccalaureate in Nursing and two (2) years of relevant work experience – OR –
    3. Associate of Arts in Nursing and three (3) years of relevant work experience
    4. CPR Certified

    Experience:

    Minimum two years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

    Machines/Equipment and Tools Used:

    1. Computer
    2. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle
    3. Must be competent with specialized medical equipment.
