Dr. Anil Suryaprasad graduated from The Ohio State University in 1999 receiving a Bachelor’s in Science in Psychobiology and a Bachelor’s in Arts in Spanish. He earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 2004. He completed a 3-year Internal Medicine residency training program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he continued as a Hospitalist and Instructor of Medicine for one year. Following this, he completed a 2-year training program in applied epidemiology with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) named the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS). As an EIS Officer, he was assigned to the Division of Epidemiology and Disease Prevention of the Indian Health Service. He remained with CDC for 4 additional years as a Medical Epidemiologist with the Division of Viral Hepatitis in the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB prevention. After a 6-year career at CDC, he had a desire to return to patient care and in September 2014, he joined the Mayo Clinic Florida (MCF) where he was an Assistant Professor and Staff Consultant in Hospital Internal Medicine through January 2020. At MCF, he served 1 year as the Medical Chair of Infection Prevention and Control. He joined CAN Community Health in Daytona Beach, FL in February 2020.
Dr. Suryaprasad was born and brought up in Dayton, Ohio. He is an active member of the American College of Physicians and a prior member of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. He is an avid sports fan supporting Ohio teams in college and professional sports.
